Yesterday, reported on why some publishers are no longer supporting comments on articles, what others are doing to moderate and mediate, and how, for some, comments can be used to foster community and boost engagement. It’s an interesting read.

We did away with comments sections on, because they were being used to ask questions that were better answered by customer support than by fellow subscribers. At, however, the comments section remains positive and on topic (click here for an example of a reader discussion about rosin). We require Facebook logins to post, so we avoid a lot of the trolling that can come with anonymous commenting.
